Orthopedic Correctors

Dr. Kallis can correct a patient’s bite using “Jasper Jumpers.” Jasper Jumpers promote the forward growth of the lower jaw. They have an advantage over headgear, in regards to safety, comfort and cosmetic appeal. However, they are expensive and require great care.

If handled properly, Jasper Jumpers should significantly improve the bite within the six to 12 months of wear.

Follow these guidelines carefully:

  • Properly clean the appliance when brushing.
  • Avoid biting directly into anything hard, such as ice and suckers, or chewing on hard items against the appliance. The device should remain stable under normal eating conditions.
  • Following initial placement, you may experience soreness. This will go away in a few days.
  • If teeth become loose, do not panic. This is normal. Expect to see results.
  • Do not chew on the appliance. It will break.
  • If the device loosens or you notice any tooth movement, call us immediately.
  • Avoid bending it. This may also cause breakage.
Opening your mouth extremely wide may result in breakage of the appliance, as well as other bands, brackets or wires. The device may also loosen if you open your mouth too wide.

We provide replacements for two broken Jasper Jumpers. Thereafter, you will be responsible for paying a fee in order to receive the replacement.

Parents, please encourage your child to take care of and wear the appliance properly. We appreciate your corporation.

Do not hesitate to call us at 770.227.1296 if you have any questions.
